September 5, 2001FAIRFIELD, N.J. (September 4, 2001)— Tiburon Racing today announced that the 1992 USAC Formula 2000 runner-up, Greg Tracy, will contest the U.S. F2000 National Championship Presented by Speeedvision season-finale doubleheader at Daytona International Speedway.
Tracy, who last competed in a Formula 2000 car in 1995, will pilot the #26 Tiburon Racing RF01 Van Diemen Quicksilver Ford with Sponsorship from PetMax Naturals, the makers of Puppy Health, Hip Health and other vitamin supplements for dogs. Tracy will race the first race of the doubleheader, while Fierberg will drive the second race.
“Greg is one of the most naturally talented drivers in the country,” said Fierberg. “He always amazes me with what he can do. I am happy to have him in the car for Daytona.”
Tracy, who finished a close second in the 1992 championship to the late Greg Moore, has won numerous races in the series, including the prestigious “Budweiser Night Before the 500", and the Hooters Cup F2000 Race in Myrtle Beach S.C. driving for Primus Racing.
In recent years, Tracy has confined his racing to motorcycles, winning the prestigious Pike’s Peak Hillclimb twice in 1996 and 1999, and finishing as the runner-up in 2000 and 2001. Tracy holds the third fastest-ever time for a motorcycle on the mountain.
“I’m looking forward to coming back,” said Tracy. “I haven’t been in a car for five years but the desire to run up front is still there. Hopefully with a little time in the car, I will be back at the front of the grid.”
Tracy also works in the motion picture industry, working as a stunt driver. Tracy recently finished work on the Sylvester Stallone film “Driven”, which features the CART FedEx Championship. Tracy was Stallone’s stunt double, and performed much of the stunt driving in the race cars for the movie.
The U.S. F2000 National Championship resumes its training of the world’s best young drivers, September 15-16, 2001, at Daytona international Speedway, with the season-finale doubleheader.
