Porsche Cars North America Reports August Sales for U.S.
<ATLANTA, Sept. 4 Porsche Cars North America (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars in the United States and Canada, today announced U.S. retail sales totaled 1830 cars, 6 percent fewer than for the same period last year. Year-to-date sales in the U.S. are up 5 percent."Porsche Cars North America has experienced solid sales over the past year in spite of the economic slowdown," said Fred Schwab, PCNA President and CEO. "Although sales were lighter during the month of August than the previous August, this is natural due to the phasing out of our 2001 model line and the anticipation of our new 911, which has been given a facelift as well as performance enhancements for model year 2002.
"PCNA's dealer body took delivery of approximately 70 percent of their model year 2002 vehicles after August 20th, much too late to have a positive sales impact. For the month of September, PCNA expects higher sales than September 2000. In addition, we anticipate the demand for model year 2002 cars to drive sales increases that will place PCNA 2001 calendar year sales approximately 10 percent higher than those achieved in calendar year 2000."
