Jaguar Announces August Sales

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 4 Jaguar North America today announced August sales of 3,711 new cars, an increase of five percent over the same period last year. Year-to-date sales are 26,824.

"As the industry launches its new 2002 models, retailers are working hard to place customers in new cars," said Doug Speck, vice president, retail operations, Jaguar North America. "At Jaguar, our sights are set firmly on a strong launch of the X-Type, a car that will eventually double our sales worldwide."

After the first full month of sales for the new X-Type sport sedan, 1,026 were sold in August, with 454 being 2.5-liter models and 572 being 3.0-liters. The strongest performance, on a percentage basis, was shown by the XK sports car with 447 cars being an increase of five percent over last year.
