Acura Sets Second Best All Time Sales Month

    TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 4 Acura announced August sales of
15,743 the second highest monthly total in division history finishing
239 units short of the record set in March of this year.  The August results
also mark the 10th straight month of record-breaking sales for Acura,
surpassing the previous August record of 14,871 set in 1989.
    
Acura's year-to-date sales rose to 114,190, up 24 percent over the same
period last year.  August totals were driven by record sales of the
best-selling 3.2 TL luxury performance sedan.  August TL sales totaled 6,326,
eclipsing the previous record of 6,123 set in August 2000.  Year-to-date sales
for TL climbed to 47,584, a 4.6 percent increase over last year.
   
 Acura's sales numbers were also helped by strong demand for the all-new
RSX sports coupe and the MDX luxury SUV.  In its second month on sale,
RSX sales increased to 3,184 units, up from 2,308 in July.  MDX year-to-date
sales rose to 27,139 on August sales of 3,206.
   
 "Despite a general industry slowdown, demand for Acura vehicles remains
strong," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales.  "The 3.2 TL
continues to be the #1 selling luxury performance sedan while the response to
the MDX luxury SUV and the RSX sports coupe has been overwhelming."
