Johnson Controls Executive to Present Company's Ebusiness Solution at Premier Supply Chain IT Event

    NEWTON, Mass.--Sept. 4, 2001--

Core Message of Lecture is "Build the Basics First" to Maximize Internal Integration

At SupplyWebExchangesm 2001 Conference & Exposition (November 7-9) Bill Rogers, vice president of information technology and ebusiness for the Automotive Systems Group of Johnson Controls, Inc., will describe how the $12.7 billion automotive supplier decided to define and measure its real-life business practices before applying enabling technology. He will further detail how the Tier-1 automotive supplier developed an ebusiness solution to maximize internal integration with trading partners through a NexCommerce series of portals.
Attendees will learn how the initial organization of internal data and processes at Johnson Controls leveraged pre-existing technology, intellectual capital and product knowledge to create a collaborative exchange knowledge base. Johnson Controls' decision to develop their own private exchange has enabled the supplier to connect with sub-Tier suppliers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and other exchanges in a mode that accelerates its role in value creation throughout the entire vehicle development and supply process.
Mr. Rogers served as the lead account manager of ebusiness and consulting services at Computer Sciences Corporation for the past two years. Prior to that position, he was the senior manager for the Information Strategy Practice and Advanced Technologies Group at Deloitte and Touche. He was recently named vice president of Information Technology and eBusiness for Johnson Controls' Automotive Systems Group.
