Jeff Gordon, No. 24 Dupont Chevrolet Monte Carlo (qualified 2nd): "We've got an awesome car. He (Kurt Busch) ran a great lap. Congratulations to him. I came off of turn 2 and I got a little bit tight. I had to back out of the throttle and that was the difference. We freed the car up after practice, but we didn't free it up enough. But hey, we're on the outside front row and I'm real happy with that.

"A good qualifying effort means a lot here. You've got to start up front and try to stay up front. I just told myself that this was a great opportunity to get a good starting position. The car is running good and I needed to get aggressive with it. I used up every inch of the racetrack and unfortunately I got a little tight off of (turn) 2."
