Nextel Communications Inc. announced it is sponsoring an elite team in the upcoming Discovery Channel World Championship Adventure Race.
Covering 450 kilometers of mountainous terrain in six days of non-stop adventure, the Discovery Channel World Championship Adventure Race takes coed teams of four individuals through a variety of disciplines including mountain walking, glacier trekking, rafting, mountain biking and abseiling (rope skills). This year's inaugural race takes place in Switzerland from Sept. 3 to 8.

Bell Labs Scientists Create Record-Breaking, High-Temperature
Organic Superconductor Out of Carbon Bucky Balls
Scientists from Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs have shown that soccer ball-shaped carbon molecules known as bucky balls can act as superconductors at relatively warm temperatures, raising hopes for inexpensive, power loss-free organic electronics and other practical applications such as quantum computers.
