ATX Technologies Launches Lincoln VCS Telematics Program

DALLAS and FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 30 ATX Technologies,
Inc., the leading independent telematics service provider to the automotive
market, and the Lincoln-Mercury division of Ford Motor Co. launched today
Lincoln's third-generation telematics program -- Lincoln VCS (Vehicle
Communications System). Lincoln pioneered in-vehicle telematics when it
teamed with ATX and Motorola back in 1996 to introduce Lincoln RESCU, the
program that VCS now replaces. VCS will be available as an option on all 2002
Lincoln LS, Continental and Town Car models.

Unlike the RESCU program offered on Continental and LS in previous years,
VCS includes a voice-activated, portable, wireless phone that docks with the
in-vehicle telematics system. Location-based, telematics services offered
through the VCS program include automatic collision notification, driver-
initiated emergency and roadside assistance, routing assistance (including
directions to points of interest such as restaurants, hotels, and automated
teller machines).

"This program reinforces a longstanding relationship between the pioneers
of the telematics industry and once again demonstrates Lincoln's commitment to
providing their customers with the opportunity to enjoy the enhanced safety,
security and personal assistance that comes with in-vehicle telematics," said
Steve Millstein, ATX President and CEO. "ATX's core capability has been
developing telematics services that result in a safer driving experience and a
more loyal customer to the vehicle brand. This core capability began with
Lincoln years ago, so we have a pretty good handle on how to meet the specific
expectations of Lincoln owners. Lincoln is a brand synonymous with personal
assistance and safety."
