New Insurance Plan for Florida Teachers; Unique Educator-Specific Program by Teachers' Insurance Plan

MELVILLE, N.Y.--Aug. 29, 2001--A unique program to provide teachers affordable auto insurance, career and educational information, and other insurance benefits has been introduced in Florida.
Teachers' Insurance Plan offers low-cost auto insurance, "teacher friendly" customer service and other benefits tailored specifically to meet the needs of teachers.
"We've created a 'community of educators' who can now benefit from their commitment to educating our children," said John E. Brooks, Program Manager of Teachers' Insurance Plan. "We recognize that teachers have a unique status in society and we reward them for their responsibility with affordable insurance, great service and many other benefits to make their jobs and lives easier."
Teachers' Insurance Plan is a direct-to-the-consumer program that caters to the specific needs of current and retired educators and their families. Some of the services created to accommodate the needs of educators include customer service and claims hours that are accessible to teachers' schedules, an education newsletter, a school calendar, a referral program, and the availability of a state approved defensive driving program conducted within their own school.
"We looked at numerous communities in Florida and found that we can offer teachers a better deal than many of the leading insurers," said Brooks. "But, that's only a part of what Teachers' is all about. We provide a whole array of other programs for teachers that they probably couldn't get from other insurers."
Teachers' Insurance Plan is designed to reward the low risk that teachers present to insurers with low rates. Rate comparisons to some of the state's leading insurers shows Teachers' offering excellent value for their money. A chart is available upon request.
The Teachers' Insurance Plan was formed in 1992 to provide insurance and other services exclusively to teachers. In 2001 the program began to expand nationally. The direct-to-the-consumer service is available to members of the education community, including active and retired education employees and their families, employees of schools, universities, school districts and other educational institutions. Information is available to educators by calling 1-800-2TEACHERS or by visiting www.Teachers.com. Teachers' Insurance Plan is underwritten by Response Insurance Company of America / Response Indemnity Company of Delaware / Response Insurance Company. Teachers' Insurance Plan is headquartered in White Plains, NY.
