August 29, 2001DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 28, 2001 - Elliott Sadler and Motorcraft will team up in Richmond, Va., for two races next week. Sadler will drive the #84 Long Brothers Racing F-150, carrying the familiar Motorcraft paint scheme in the Kroger 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Richmond International Speedway on Thursday, September 6th. It will mark the second consecutive year that Sadler has competed in the truck race at Richmond. Ford Racing fan club Team Ford Racing (TFR) will support Sadler's effort as an associate sponsor.
"This is a great opportunity to bring Motorcraft and Team Ford Racing together from a marketing standpoint while giving Elliott some valuable track time in preparation for the No Bull 5 on Saturday," said Charles Kim, Ford Customer Service Division Motorsport Manager. "This should help him for his first-ever - and the Wood Brothers' first-ever - No Bull 5 run, which we're all very excited about."
Sadler qualified for the Winston No Bull 5 event by finishing in third-place in the Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway on July 7th. Drivers become eligible to compete for a $1 million bonus by finishing in the top five at the previous No Bull 5 event.
"Elliott is one of Team Ford Racing's fan favorites," said Jim Owens, Ford Racing Merchandising Manager. "The time he takes with our members is above and beyond the call of duty, and this is a neat way for us to give him something back. Any way that we can help him represent Team Ford Racing, we're happy to do."
One of the perks of being a member of Team Ford Racing is the chance to watch Thursday night's race from the pits.
"One lucky TFR member will get to join Elliott and his crew as an honorary pit crew member," said Owens. "It's just another way we try to bring our members behind the scenes. TFR members should check their e-mail and website for additional details."
The Motorcraft brand includes quality spark plugs, filters, motor oil, batteries, electrical, brake and suspension components, and now remanufactured engines and transmissions, which are available at Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealerships and retail outlets throughout the country for use on all vehicles, domestic and foreign.
