Metaldyne Appoints Executive Vice President Of Strategic Growth and Integration

    PLYMOUTH, Mich., Aug. 28 Metaldyne Corporation announced
today that Joseph Ponteri has been appointed vice president, strategic growth
and integration.  Tim Leuliette, Metaldyne president and CEO, made the
announcement.

    In this role, Ponteri will be working on special projects with Leuliette,
including certain acquisition and integration projects, while continuing to
serve as a member of Metaldyne's Executive Committee.
    Prior to this appointment, Ponteri served as group president of
Metaldyne's Light Metals Group.  In this position, he was responsible for the
overall operations of the group, including manufacturing, sales, finance and
engineering.
    Prior to the January 2001 merger of MascoTech, Simpson Industries and
Global Metal Technologies (GMTI), Ponteri served as president and CEO of GMTI
since 1995.  Previously, he held the positions of president and CEO of Coach
and Car Equipment Corp.; president of Lester B. Knight Cast Metals; executive
vice president of Krizman, Inc.; and vice president, international of
Wheelabrator-Frye, a subsidiary of Allied Signal.
    Ponteri will hold an office at Metaldyne's corporate headquarters in
Plymouth, Mich.
