Hayes Lemmerz Commercial Highway Division Completes Upgrade Of its Akron, Ohio Manufacturing Facility

   

    NORTHVILLE, Mich., Aug. 27 Hayes Lemmerz International,
Inc. , a leading global supplier to the automotive and commercial
highway industries, announced that it has recently completed an $11 million
upgrade program at its commercial highway manufacturing operations in Akron,
Ohio.

    The program took place over the last two years and included upgrades in
equipment technology and process improvement.
    "Modernization of the Akron facility is a clear demonstration of our
commitment to product, quality and technology.  It also puts us in a better
position to compete in an ever changing market on quality, service and price,"
said Michael McGrath, President of Hayes Lemmerz Commercial Highway and
Aftermarket Division.
    Hayes Lemmerz Akron Operations provides tubeless and tube-type wheels,
rims and associated parts to the commercial highway industry.  The operations
also manufacture military wheels for certain manufacturers of government
vehicles.
    Recent improvements have led Hayes Lemmerz Akron Operations to receive
QS-9000 certification -- the highest level of industry certification -- in
July 2001.
