Eagle-Picher Hillsdale Division to Supply Water Pump Assemblies to GM

    INKSTER, Mich., Aug. 27 Eagle-Picher Automotive Hillsdale
Division has been selected to manufacture water pump assemblies for General
Motors Corporation's Northstar V8 engine.

    The assemblies will be produced at Hillsdale's manufacturing plant in
Manchester, Tenn., according to Dan Snook, account manager at Eagle-Picher's
Hillsdale Division. Production will begin in early fall 2001 and continue for
approximately six years.

    "The multi-component project will give the plant new opportunities to
enhance its operations and widen its product range," said Snook. The Hillsdale
Division will also perform all validation test requirements for the water pump
assembly production in cooperation at its Tech Center in Hillsdale, Mich. and
manufacturing plant in Manchester.

    The finished water pump assemblies will be shipped to Focus: HOPE in
Detroit, Mich. where the assemblies will be put into the engine front
crossover module. Once completed, Focus: HOPE will ship the water pump
assemblies to the GM Powertrain engine plant in Livonia, Mich.

    Since 1968, Focus: HOPE, a nationally recognized civil and human rights
organization, has trained over 7,000 young people in various technologies
while providing career opportunities for them in local industries. Focus: HOPE
completes assembly operations for several area businesses in their facilities
which include the Machinist Training Institute and the Center for Advanced
Technologies.

    Hillsdale Division manufactures precision machined components and
assemblies for engine, transmission, axle/driveline and chassis/suspension
systems. From headquarters in Hillsdale, Mich., the division operates
12 facilities in the U.S., Mexico and the U.K.

    The division is the first North American damper manufacturer with custom
rubber compounding and manufacturing, as well as precision machining
capabilities. In addition, the division's technical center is dedicated to
vibration control system development and testing, hydraulic pump development
and testing, engine and chassis dynamometer testing, a metallurgical
laboratory, prototype machining facilities and CAD/CAM/FEA capabilities.

    Hillsdale Division is part of U.S.-based Eagle-Picher Automotive. The
