USAR Announces Opening of Northern Office
2002 Race Dates Confirmed with Jennerstown Speedway
 

            Fayetteville, GA (Aug. 22, 2001) - United Speed Alliance Racing President Gene Cox has announced plans to open a satellite office for USAR and the Hooters ProCup Series at Jennerstown Speedway. The office will assist the Series and its operation of the Hooters ProCup Series Northern Division.

            In addition to the office opening, Cox has also announced that Jimmy Wilson has been promoted to Director of the Northern Division and will work full-time out of the office in Jennerstown, Pennsylvania.

            "We are very excited to solidify our partnership with Jennerstown Speedway," said Cox. "Steve Peles has a first-class operation at Jennerstown Speedway and we look forward to a long and beneficial relationship with the track. USAR has aquired partnership in the facility and we look forward to returning to the track in 2002 with the Hooters ProCup Series."

            All day-to-day operations will remain coordinated through the Fayetteville, Georgia office and Wilson will assist in those operations.

            "We felt it was important to have a presence in the Northern Division and we can accomplish that with an office in Jennerstown," Cox added. "Our competitors now have a direct contact in their respective area and we feel this will only enhance our relationship with those competitors."

            Wilson has been with USAR since 1998 and will remain as race director of the Hooters ProCup Series Southern Division for the remainder of the 2001 season. Wilson began his racing career at Volusia County Speedway and was named Chief Starter and Race Director at the age of 17. Wilson moved on to work with NASCAR in scoring and remained their until accepting the position with USAR.

            "I am very honored and excited about the opportunity that has been given to me," said Wilson. "I feel this office will show competitors that USAR is committed to the Northern Division and the location will be convenient for everyone."

            In addition to the satellite office opening, USAR also announced it has confirmed the first four dates on the 2002 schedule with the races scheduled for Jennerstown Speedway on April 13th, June 8th, August 3rd, and a Four Champions Championship event in early October.

            "We are very happy to have those dates confirmed for 2002," said Director of Series Development Tony Cox. "We have added an additional date for Jennerstown in 2002 and we feel this is a great start to putting our schedule together for next year."

            This season the USAR Hooters ProCup Series will return to Jennerstown Speedway for the second race of the Four Champions Championship Series in a little over one month on September 29, 2001.

            "We feel naming these dates at this time will let everyone know that USAR is committed to keeping the Hooters ProCup Series in the North and we look forward to finishing out a great season this year and building a foundation for an even better season in 2002," said Gene Cox. "This year has been phenomenal for the Series and we only see it getting bigger and better for our competitors, sponsors and fans."

            USAR is currently working on the 2002 schedule and will announce dates as they are confirmed with the host tracks.

            Jennerstown Speedway President Steve Peles added his excitement with the announcement by USAR.

            "We are very excited about our partnership with USAR," Peles said. "We have enjoyed a great working relationship with everyone at USAR and having their satellite office located at Jennerstown Speedway will only make our partnership even stronger."

            USAR currently operates a 30-race season for the Hooters ProCup Series that will visit 23 tracks in 12 states and Ontario, Canada. The Series features 3,350-lb. steel-bodied, stock cars with 550-plus horse-powered engines. The Series has been competing fulltime since 1997 and has crowned three champions; Mario Gosselin (1997), Jeff Agnew (1998), and Bobby Gill (1999, 2000).
