                 Ten Customized 'Denim' Cars to be Given Away

    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis., August 23, 2001 - Kohl's Department Stores and
Levi's(R) jeans make the perfect fit and 10 lucky winners could slip into a
2001 customized, first-of-its-kind 'denim' Volkswagen Beetle.  Customers who
purchase Levi's jeans and apparel from any Kohl's store from now through
Sept. 9, 2001, will receive a scratch-off game card with a chance to win a
'denim' "Bug," Levi's jeans or dozens of other prizes.* It's part of the
Kohl's and Levi's Take Home a Show Stopper Sweepstakes.

    "With the back-to-school shopping season in full swing, customers will
have the value-added opportunity to purchase Levi's brand products and have a
chance to win some great prizes," says Rick Leto, Kohl's executive vice
president and general merchandise manager.  "The VW Beetle and Levi's
represent two classic icons that have timeless appeal with consumers of all
ages."
    The Beetle, pictured in Kohl's sales circulars, features customized
vehicle graphics giving it a wrapped in denim look replete with the
distinctive Levi's Red Tab.  The interior seats are made of actual denim.  The
car is destined to become an instant collector's item.
    In addition to awarding 10 Beetles and 2,000 pairs of Levi's, other prizes
include: five Philips 50" projection televisions, 15 Philips DVD players, 10
Gateway computers, five $5,000 U.S.  Savings bonds, 20 Philips home audio
systems, 10 Trek mountain bike packages, 10 $100 Levi's wardrobes, 50 vacation
packages, 150 Teen People subscriptions, and Kohl's gift cards in the amount
