PixTech Chief Executive Officer Dies
SANTA CLARA, Calif. & ROUSSET, France--Aug. 22, 2001--PixTech, Inc. today announced that Dieter Mezger, president, chief executive officer, and director of PixTech, died suddenly Monday, August 20, 2001, in Boise, Idaho. He was 58.Ronald J. Ritchie, a director of the company, has been elected to serve as interim chief executive officer until a permanent replacement is named.
Dieter Mezger joined PixTech in March 1998 as president and was elected chief executive officer in January 1999. Prior to joining PixTech, Mezger worked in the electronics industry for over thirty years, primarily with VLSI and Texas Instruments.
"Dieter was our great friend as well as our leader," stated Jean Luc Grand-Clement, chairman of the PixTech board of directors. "We extend our deepest sympathy to his family. He will be sincerely missed by all who knew him."
Ritchie has been on the PixTech board of directors since October 1999. He has held CEO or senior executive positions with leading companies, including Texas Instruments, Allied Signal Corporation, Ampex Corporations, Computer Products, Inc., and Akashic Memories Corporation. Currently Ritchie is on the Board of Directors of SBE Inc. and holds advisory board positions with several privately held companies.
