SME's Dallas 2001 Advanced Productivity Exposition Supports Texas Region Manufacturing Industries

    DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 21 Manufacturing decision-makers in
the Texas region will have opportunities to discover solutions to their
manufacturing challenges October 30 through November 1 at the Society of
Manufacturing Engineers' (SME) Dallas 2001 Advanced Productivity Exposition
(APEX).  The biennial machine tool and manufacturing event takes place at
Dallas Market Center in Dallas, Texas.
    "With manufacturing accounting for 13.7 percent of all jobs in the
Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex(1), machine tools and metalworking technologies
are vital to sustained output," said Gary Mikola, SME's director of
expositions.  "Increased demands for customer satisfaction, coupled with the
supply chain revolution, mandate OEMs and suppliers to do their jobs better
than ever before.  The Dallas 2001 APEX has the resources companies need to do
this in today's highly competitive marketplace."
    Attendees will have the opportunity to visit more than 200 industry-
leading exhibitors, explore over one million pounds of equipment under power,
and test major machinery lines from around the world.
    Exhibits represent international equipment lines featuring the latest in
machining centers; milling machines; drilling and tapping machines; EDM;
flexible manufacturing systems; machine controls (CNC/NC/DNC); assembly and
automation equipment; material handling; cutting tools; chucks, collets and
fixtures; grinding and deburring; metal saws; punches and dies; screw
machines; turning machines; CAD/CAM systems; cleaning systems; finishing;
lasers; measurement; press brakes and shears; waterjet cutting; and more.
    Exposition hours are: Tuesday, Oct. 30, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday,
Oct. 31, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Thursday, Nov. 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Note:
show hours adjusted this year to accommodate Halloween on Wednesday evening).
