Volvo Global Trucks Deliveries, January-July 2001
GOTHENBURG, Sweden--Aug. 21, 2001--Deliveries from Volvo Global Trucks, which comprises Mack Trucks, Inc., Renault V.I. and Volvo Trucks, during the period January-July 2001 amounted to 91,872 units compared to 107,037 in the same period last year, a decrease of 14%. Order intake was down 11%, of which North America was down 31% and Europe 5% compared to the same period last year."The competitive situation in Europe is becoming increasingly intense. However, order intake for Volvo Global Trucks in Europe during the summer months has been on a relatively good level," says Tryggve Sthen, President and CEO of Volvo Global Trucks. "The situation in North America remains very grave."

Mack Trucks, Inc.
During the period January-July 2001, deliveries from Mack Trucks amounted to 15,062, which was 32 % fewer than during the same period last year. 14,546 heavy-duty trucks were delivered, and the remaining 516 were medium-duty.
For the remainder of the year, Mack has currently scheduled additional non-production days at its Winnsboro and Macungie plants as part of its ongoing effort to keep production in close alignment with order intake. Mack continued to see strong sales improvement in South America.

Renault V.I.
Total deliveries for the period January-July 2001 totalled 37,738 vehicles, an increase of almost 3 % compared to the same period last year. More than half of the vehicles delivered were heavy duty, of which the Kerax range increased by 20%. In the medium duty range, deliveries of the Midlum model increased by 16%.

Volvo Truck Corporation
During the period January-July, Volvo Trucks delivered a total of 39,072 vehicles, of which 1 312 were Mitsubishi Canter.
Competition in Western Europe is intensifying. In spite of this, Volvo Truck Corporation's order book has improved somewhat during the summer period.
Eastern Europe and the Far East remain positive.
