August 21, 2001Schrader's Bristol Highlights...
* The "M&M's"® Racing Team enjoyed a solid qualifying effort at Bristol Motor Speedway in the spring, but Bristol wouldn't be the same without falling victim to some torn up sheet metal. Such was the case for the "M&M's"® Pontiac at the team's last outing at the world's fastest half mile, just 80 laps into the event. The car, which was running eighth a handful of laps before the accident, finished 30th due to extensive time spent behind the wall for repairs.
* The car the "M&M's"® Racing Team is taking to Bristol Motor Speedway is the same car that competed at the high-banked, half-mile track in the Tennessee Mountains this past March. This particular car qualified 10th in the spring.
* The Fourth Annual Fund Raising Gala To Benefit The Hendrick Marrow Program is set to take place Wednesday evening, August 22. "M&M's"® Racing Team driver Schrader along with Terry Labonte and Andy Petree held the first event in 1998. The benefit got its start when Schrader and Labonte decided to organize a function for their long-time friend and car owner Rick Hendrick. Schrader didn't have the exact numbers, but on average he said the event raises about $90,000 to support the Hendrick Marrow program with funds coming from dinner and an auction.
* Driver Ken Schrader will sign autographs at Food City Family race night in downtown Bristol Thursday night, August 23, from 5-7 p.m.
