IMPCO Awarded Funding From Department of Energy & The PERC

    CERRITOS, Calif., Aug. 17 IMPCO Technologies, Inc.
the World's leading source of advanced alternative fuel systems
technology and components for internal combustion engines, announced today
that the company's Engine Systems Division located in Sterling Heights,
Michigan has received advanced-development funding from the Department of
Energy and the Propane Education and Research Council to develop low-emission
CARB/EPA certified compliant engine packages for industrial equipment.

    Mr. Roger Burrows, Director of Global Sales for the Engine Systems
Division, said, "We are pleased and honored to have received the DOE and
PERC funding for this very important project.  Advancing the state of the art
in emission control systems integration for gaseous fuels used in industrial
equipment and power generation products enhances IMPCO's leadership position
within the marketplace.  Engine Systems is focused on providing cost
effective, integrated and certified engine packages to OEMs around the globe."

    Developments and advancements in technology for the low-emission use of
clean burning, renewable fuels such as propane fuel is key to lowering
pollution levels and reducing dependency on foreign sources of energy and
crude oil.

    The Department of Energy's mission is to foster a secure and reliable
energy system that is environmentally and economically sustainable and to
support continued United States leadership in science and technology.

    Since it began its work in 1998, The Propane Education & Research Council
has concentrated on three important missions:

     1.  Research & Development
         Support research related to the use of propane and the
         development of propane utilization equipment to improve
         propane efficiency, environmental performance, and safety standards.

     2.  Safety & Training
         Provide ongoing education to members of the industry to foster
         the safe use and handling of odorized propane.

     3.  Consumer Education
         Educate propane consumers on the advantages of using propane and
         the proper maintenance and safe handling of propane and
         propane-fueled appliances.
