Schembri Appointed Vice President of Marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA

    MONTVALE, N.J., August 15 Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) has
announced the appointment of David C. Schembri to vice president, marketing at
the company's Montvale headquarters, effective immediately.  Schembri succeeds
Ken Enders who has left the company to pursue other interests.

    In his new role, Schembri will be responsible for all product marketing
for passenger cars/light trucks, marketing communications and advertising for
the U.S. operation.  He is a member of the company's executive management team
and reports directly to Paul Halata, president and CEO of MBUSA.

    Schembri, who has been with MBUSA since 1994, was most recently
vice-president, sales/west for MBUSA and was responsible for sales, service,
marketing and operations for the Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago
Regions.  Prior to that, he served as general manager of the New York and Los
Angeles regions, respectively, where he oversaw the retail operations for the
dealers, sales and marketing.

    Schembri began his automotive career in 1975, when he joined American
Motors' college graduate training program.  In 1979, Schembri joined
Volkswagen of America, where he held numerous positions including director of
marketing and manager of national sales operations.

    Schembri holds a B.S. in Business Administration and an MBA from the
University of Detroit.

    Born and raised in Detroit, Schembri will be relocating back to New Jersey
from Los Angeles.
