Murata Introduces Miniaturized Surface Mount Common Mode Choke Coils

SMYRNA, Ga.--Aug. 14, 2001--Murata Electronics North America (www.murata.com), a world-leading innovator in electronics, today announced two new series of surface mount Common Mode Choke Coils.
Though small in size, the DLW21S series and the DLP31D series products offer quality Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) filtering solutions for high-speed interfaces such as Universal Serial Bus (USB), IEEE1396 (Firewire) and Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS).
High-speed interfaces are used to transmit large amounts of data at fast speeds between digital consumer products. These products include but are not limited to digital cameras, camcorders, set-top boxes and DVD players. In the United States, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires such electronic equipment to meet EMI emission regulations.
If the EMI emissions exceed a specified level the equipment can not be marketed in the U.S. The high coupling coefficient of Murata's Common Mode Choke Coils enables the customer to meet the Electromagnetic Compliance set forth by the FCC without affecting the signal for the data line.
"Murata works with international electronics equipment manufacturers who have to make sure their products fit into every market possible," said Shuji Mikami, Group Product Manager for Murata Electronics North America. "Further, the design flexibility and quality of the choke coils, allows our customers the ability to compete for the highly desirable U.S. consumer."
The DLW21S series common mode choke coil is unique due to its miniaturized features. The 0805 wire-wound two-line choke coil offers up to 370 ohms of common mode impedance at 100MHz and has a high coupling coefficient to provide excellent common mode noise suppression with minimal signal degradation.
The second series, DLP31D is also small (1206 size), but utilizes Murata's innovative Film Technology to produce a two-pair common mode choke coil array. The DLP31D provides up to 470 ohms of common mode Impedance at 100MHz. With the two-pair structure and compact size, the DLP31D series is ideal for IEEE1394 interface.
Murata's sample price for DLW21 is approximately 65 cents and for DLP31D approximately 95 cents.
