Unfortunate Turn of Events for Hiskey at The Glen

WATKINS GLEN, New York (August 10, 2001) - Despite a very hectic week, today started off great. The #15 Fordahl Motorsports/Crazy Redhead Racing Porsche GT3-R was once again starting from the front of the GT class and came out with a bang.

The team had overcome several obstacles to get to that point. They had a motor flown in only days prior to the Bully Hill 250 and they blew a tire twice in yesterday's practice, once putting it into the foam wall. But still the #15 team got the car out onto the track and on the GT pole. 

"It's extremely unfortunate," Hiskey said in disappointment. "Randy was running great and we had a great chance at winning."

Kim Hiskey's teammate, Randy Pobst, held the GT lead for 43 laps. Then on lap 44 the #15 machine hit an oil spot, went through the gravel and back into the foam wall. Luckily, Pobst was able to get out of the car safely and maneuver it back to the pits. 

The car had extensive damage, including a leaking radiator and loss of power steering. The car was unable to return to the race, prohibiting Hiskey from getting in. 

"I had a bad feeling about coming back here," Hiskey said. "This entire week has been full of ups and downs."

Hiskey and Pobst will go for their third win this season at the Grand-Am season finale at Daytona International Speedway in mid-September.
