IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY "TRUCKER'S NIGHT"
SET FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2001

Irwindale, Calif. - -  They're all going to be "Truckin' on down to Irwindale Speedway on Saturday afternoon September 1... That's when Irwindale Speedway will present its first "Truckers Appreciation Night & Truck Beauty Contest ".  Open to all styles, sizes, types, flavors, attitudes and varieties of trucks, the on-site registration will begin at 3:00 pm at the track which is located at 13300 E. Live Oak Avenue in Irwindale, right off the 605 Freeway.

Sponsored by 10-4 Magazine, Los Angeles Freightliner, and the Speedway, there will be special trophies present for Best Working Truck, Best Vintage Truck, Best In Show,  and a People's Choice Award to be voted on by all the fans in attendance of show day.  Handsome trophies for the above categories will be provided by APP Forged Wheels.

All "Truckers" entering a vehicle in the show will receive a free adult admission to the night's racing at the Speedway which is scheduled to be an exciting NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series Food 4 Less 150-mile race in conjunction with two racing truck divisions: the Ultra Wheel Super Trucks and the American Race Trucks ... some 300 laps of close-up NASCAR racing excitement!

The show will start directly after registration at about 4pm.   Live music, special raffles, judging, and other fun stuff will go on until the 6:45 pm awards ceremonies for the show.   All winning trucks will take a special parade lap of honor around the banked half-mile oval Speedway just prior to the 7:00 pm NASCAR race start.  

"We are expecting over a hundred trucks to take part in this first-of-its-kind event here at the Speedway,"  said track VP Bob DeFazio.  "We know that there are thousands of our fans who are involved in trucks and trucking on a everyday basis, whether they drive them for a living or just because they're neat machines to be seen in.    We're inviting everyone who's proud of their (trucking) wheels to bring it out to Irwindale on the first and show it off to our great fans and then join us for a great NASCAR race that evening."
