Eaton Wins $50M Airbus Landing Gear Component Contract From Goodrich

CLEVELAND--Aug. 9, 2001--Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today said its Aerospace business has been selected by Goodrich Corporation to supply the hydraulic/electrical dressing on the new Airbus A-380 body and wing landing gear.
The landing gear assembly will be the largest and most complex ever developed for a commercial aircraft. The value of the award for Eaton's portion of the assembly is estimated at $50 million.
Eaton's Fluid Conveyance unit will be providing Goodrich's Landing Gear Division with Aeroquip brand products for all of the hydraulic hose, tubing and fittings, electrical service wiring and brackets, clamps and associated mounting hardware in integrated packages that will be delivered for point-of-use assembly.
In order to meet the unique customer requirements for optimum system design and weight reduction, Goodrich has assembled a fully integrated product design team on site, including two Eaton landing gear dressing systems engineers. Eaton personnel, in conjunction with Goodrich engineering, are working together to develop the optimum systems routing design for the electrical harnesses, and hydraulic hoses and tubes for the body and wing landing gear assemblies.
Eaton will take the lead role with N.B. Aerazur and Goodrich in providing the design, manufacture, assembly and test of the electrical dressings.
In the aerospace industry, Eaton is a leading supplier of hydraulic, electro-hydraulic pump and generator products and integrated systems; electric motors; aircraft flap and slat systems; fluid conveyance products and systems; nose wheel steering systems; integrated control systems; cockpit controls; power and load management systems; pressure sensors and fluid debris monitoring products and systems.
