Equilon Pipeline Company Sponsors Pueblo Challenge Golf Tournament; Event to Benefit Talented Native American Students
HOUSTON, Aug. 9 Equilon Pipeline Company LLC announced its silver sponsorship of the Pueblo Challenge Golf Tournament, which took place July 26 at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque. The annual event benefits the 2001 Council of Energy Resource Tribes (CERT)-UNM Tribal Resource Institute in Business, Engineering and Science (TRIBES). TRIBES is a pre-college program for Native American high school graduates pursuing business, engineering and related fields. The program provides students with the opportunity to prepare for the demands of college life. "We've built a successful working relationship with the Zia Pueblo and Santa Ana Pueblo tribes," said Dick Williams, Equilon Pipeline operations support manager. "This sponsorship gives us an opportunity to give back to a worthwhile cause-the higher education and future of talented Native American students." This is the third year that Equilon Pipeline has participated as a sponsor of the Pueblo Challenge Golf Tournament. Additionally, the company has established a strategic alliance with Native American Media, a California-based organization, to create employment opportunities for Native Americans. Native American Media also provides consulting services that aid companies in understanding the importance of environmental protection for America's first citizens. Employment and business opportunities are advertised in Native American publications, including News from Indian Country. Equilon Pipeline Company has proposed a pipeline project, the New Mexico Products Pipeline (NMPP), to provide a safe efficient means of transporting gasoline and petroleum products from the Texas Gulf Coast to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and the Four Corners area. The NMPP will provide New Mexico with increased access to competitively priced fuels. For more information about Equilon, visit our website at http://www.equilon.com .
