Illinois Insurance Company Teams With California

<
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Aug. 6 As of August 6, State Farm's
2.8 million California auto insurance policyholders will have an easier time
processing their annual vehicle registrations. With the new online system in
place, State Farm auto liability policyholders will be able to register their
cars with a credit card and a few simple keystrokes at the Department of Motor
Vehicles website.
The online vehicle registration is a convenient service made possible by
computerized information sharing between State Farm and the DMV. Where
previously policyholders had to furnish paper proof of insurance for their
registration renewals, the DMV will now be able to verify insurance directly
from State Farm's policyholder database.
While State Farm will share policy-in-force information with the DMV, the
confidentiality of personal policyholder information will be protected.
State Farm is the largest insurer of automobiles and homes in California
and the nation.
