ArvinMeritor Appoints Diane Stelfox Vice President and Controller

    TROY, Mich., Aug. 6 ArvinMeritor, Inc. today
announced that Diane Stelfox has been appointed vice president and controller,
effective Aug. 6, 2001.  Stelfox rejoins the organization after a brief
absence before which she served as ArvinMeritor's vice president, Corporate
Development.  Prior to the ArvinMeritor merger, Stelfox was vice president and
controller of Meritor Automotive, a global supplier of components and systems
for commercial, specialty and light vehicle original equipment manufacturers
(OEMs) and the aftermarket.

deal of insight and expertise to the position, and that her efforts will help

 Stelfox joined the ArvinMeritor organization in 1998 after 11 years with
ITT Automotive, most recently as controller of ITT's North American Body
Systems division.  Before that, Stelfox was controller of ITT's North American
Aftermarket division.  She joined ITT from an audit-manager position with
Arthur Anderson LLP.
    
An honors graduate from the University of Detroit, Stelfox holds a
bachelor's degree in accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.
