UAW Reaches Tentative Labor Contract at NUMMI
FREMONT, Calif., Aug. 4 The International Union, UAW announced today that members of UAW Local 2244 had reached a tentative agreement early this morning with New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI) regarding a new labor contract covering the company's Fremont, California vehicle assembly plant. Some 4,000 UAW members work at the facility. The previous contract expired on August 4, 2001 at 2 am. Union members will vote on the proposed contract at a meeting on Sunday, August 5 at noon at UAW Local 2244 at 45201 Fremont Boulevard in Fremont. Details of the proposed new agreement are being withheld pending ratification.
