[The following are facts and figures regarding the cars Pontiac teams will be running during this weekend's NASCAR Winston Cup Series event at Indianapolis.]
No. 10
Johnny Benson comes to Indy wheeling the same chassis he drove to a fifth place finish last weekend at Pocono. Benson, who is currently ranked 10th in the Winston Cup points, tested the car here at Indy a couple weeks back.
No. 14
A.J. Foyt Racing put together a brand new chassis for the Brickyard 400 this weekend. Driver Ron Hornaday and the team tested here twice in the past two weeks in preparation for Sunday's 400-miler.
No. 18
Interstate Batteries Pontiac driver Bobby Labonte broke out last weekend at Pocono Raceway with his first win of the 2001 season. Labonte, who is here to defend last year's Brickyard 400 victory, is running the same chassis that claimed the victory last week and also won here in 2000.
No. 20
Indiana native Tony Stewart already earned one top 10 finish at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this year, finishing sixth in the Indianapolis 500. He went on to finish third in the Coke 600 in Charlotte later that night, one of eight top five finishes for the Home Depot Pontiac this season. Stewart comes to Indy with a brand new chassis.
No. 27
Rick Mast, who signed on this week as the driver of the No. 27 Grand Prix for the remainder of the 2001 season, comes to Indy with the same chassis his team took to Michigan in June (failed to qualify). Mast, who sat on the pole for the inaugural Brickyard 400 in 1994, has run nine races total this year with two different teams and has a top finish of 14th.
No. 36
M&M's Pontiac driver Ken Schrader looks for his eighth Indianapolis start this weekend with a brand new chassis. The Fenton, Missouri driver owns a pair of top 10 finishes here, including a seventh in the inaugural event in 1994.
