Study Shows OnStar Responds to Traveler's Greatest
Concerns
Getting lost and locking keys in the car top the list
TROY, Mich., Aug. 2 Navigating in unfamiliar territory-the
primary concern of both male and female drivers, according to a new study
conducted by NFO World Group on behalf of Fodor's Road Guides USA -- is
something that OnStar knows a lot about. With more than 7 million
interactions with its subscribers, OnStar can help you get where you want to
be safely and with peace of mind.
The recently released Fodor's study, which asked for top concerns
excluding car trouble, shows 43 percent of respondents admitted to feeling
nervous when they got lost. Second to getting lost was the fear of locking
keys in the car. OnStar's 1.3 million subscribers have the ability to connect
with a live advisor 24-hours a day, 365 days a year to get assistance with
these and other problems that can occur on the road. If a subscriber's air
bag deploys, the vehicle will automatically call the OnStar Center, so an
advisor can send help if needed. Advisors also can remotely unlock doors,
provide connections to roadside assistance, remotely diagnose vehicle
problems, and for premium subscribers, offer navigation assistance. In
addition, OnStar is currently piloting traffic updates, including accident
alerts and construction, through the OnStar Virtual Advisor. Pilot cities
include Detroit, San Francisco and Phoenix, with other metro areas to be added
throughout the fall.
"This study supports the key reasons that the number of OnStar subscribers
continues to increase. People want to feel secure when they travel," said
OnStar President Chet Huber. "Many of our subscribers depend on knowing that
no matter where they are we're just a button push away. If they need to find
a destination, OnStar can help them get there. If they lock their keys in the
car, we can open it for them. If their car has difficulty, we can check it
out remotely. OnStar truly provides a unique safety net for travelers."
