USF Holland Receives Company-Wide ISO 9002 Certification

HOLLAND, Mich.--July 31, 2001--USF Holland Inc., a regional carrier unit of USFreightways Corporation, announced today details of its system-wide ISO 9002 registration by European Quality Assurance (EQA). The scope of Holland's registration includes all core processes and is at least as comprehensive as any registration within the LTL transportation industry.
EQA has conducted site audits of the main office and 13 USF Holland terminals during 2001, and has granted each ISO 9002 certification. With the successful completion of the most recent audits during June, USF Holland has surpassed the required threshold of site audits to project certification across all freight terminal and equipment maintenance locations, as well as its main office functions.
Registration to the worldwide recognizable ISO 9002 standard validates that USF Holland has the capability to provide its customers with the service it promises:

-- Transit times that meet the most rigorous internal standards,
-- Safe, claim free handling, and
-- Responsive communications.

Pete Neydon, President and CEO of USF Holland said, "Internal audits, corrective action and management review processes have emerged from the ISO 9002 registration effort. USF Holland will gain from these disciplines by incrementally improving operational efficiencies and by raising its standard of customer service."
European Quality Assurance, Ltd. is an independent auditing firm based in England that reviews corporate operations to verify that processes are documented, implemented, and effective according to ISO 9000 quality standards.

USF Holland, based in Holland, Michigan, provides next-day and second-day LTL service throughout the Central and Southeast United States with statewide coverage in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin. USF Holland also provides service to and from the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
