WASHINGTON--July 30, 2001--The Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas (EVAA) will host a four-day conference and exposition to stimulate exchange of technical information and discuss the latest technological developments in the electric transportation industry in Sacramento, Calif., Dec. 11-14, 2001.
The event, "EVAA Electric Transportation Industry Conference: Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Technologies," will focus on the historic battery and hybrid-electric vehicle technologies as well as fuel cells, the "new frontier" for electric transportation technologies.
"From the path to the commercialization of automotive fuel cell products to the growth of the hybrid market and the future of battery-electric vehicles, the Electric Transportation Industry Conference will be the premier event for debating, learning about, and showcasing electric transportation," said EVAA Executive Director Kateri Callahan.
"This year's exposition will offer attendees unrivaled opportunities to see the latest technologies and products comprising the entire 'family' of electric vehicles."
This year's EVAA conference will be an expansion of the North American Electric Vehicle and Infrastructure (NAEVI) series of years past which traditionally included panel sessions on battery and hybrid-electric vehicle innovations.
The new event aims to tap into worldwide interest in fuel cell electric vehicles and the conference agenda has been designed to appeal to and attract both experienced and new industry players. Topics to be covered during the four-day event include:
-- | overcoming institutional barriers to battery-electric vehicles. |
-- | realizing the potential of fuel cell electric vehicles through government partnerships. |
-- | building demand for hybrid-electric vehicles beyond California. |
A highlight to this year's event is the conference-sponsored site visit to the California Fuel Cell Partnership on Friday, Dec. 14. Attendees will be able to participate in small group lectures, witness infrastructure demonstrations and take part in a "Ride and Drive" of several different electric transportation options.
The three "core" days of the Electric Transportation Industry Conference and Exhibition, Dec. 12-14, will draw hundreds of representatives from the major auto companies and energy providers, electric vehicle component suppliers, fleet customers and government officials from federal, state and local agencies.
All events for the Electric Transportation Industry Conference will be held at the Sacramento Convention Center, in downtown Sacramento.
Hosted by EVAA, the event is conducted in partnership with the California Air Resources Board; California Energy Commission; California Fuel Cell Partnership; Edison Electric Institute; EPRI; the Environmental Research Institute of Michigan; the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE); the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT); the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Fuel Cell Council.
EVAA is the industry association working to advance electric vehicles and supporting infrastructure through policy, information and market development initiatives in the United States, and to serve as the Americas' representative to the World Electric Vehicle Association.
EVAA members include auto companies and other vehicle manufacturers, electric utilities, EV component suppliers, research institutions and government agencies. The association serves as the industry's source of information about electric vehicles.
