NHRA FMDRS: Manzo and Bozzelli take top honors at Numidia Raceway

July 30, 2001NUMIDIA, Pa.- In the final results from Numidia Raceway; Federal-Mogul Dragster driver Cliff Bozelli and Federal-Mogul Funny Car pilot Frank Manzo took home the honors.
Bozzelli of Absecon, N.J., took on Artie Allen of Jacksonville, Fla., in the final and laid down a 5.648-second pass at 249.23 mph to take the win.
"We had to replace motors between rounds," said Bozzelli. "The motor we used in the final had not been touched since last years Englishtown race."
Morganville, N.J., resident and 6-time national champion, Manzo faced Paul Gill of Brockton, Mass in the Federal-Mogul Funny Car final. His 5.840-second run at 247.79 mph was enough to turn on the win lights.
Winners in other categories are Scott Perrin of Pen Argyl, Pa., in Comp; Peter Biondo of Mt. Laurel, N.J., in Super Stock; James Marshall of Scottsville, N.Y., in Stock; Tony Gambardella of Williamstown, N.J., in Super Comp; Dan Northrop of Doylestown, Pa., in Super Gas; and Earl Nichols of Wilmington, Del., in Super Street.
In other racing action, the Best Appearing Car award was given to Super Comp competitor Pete Frisina of Farmingville, N.Y. Also, taking home the Best Engineered honors was Peru, Ind., resident Brian Olson for his Competition Eliminator dragster. Finally, the Best Appearing Crew award was given to John Headley's Federal-Mogul Dragster team out of Newportville, Pa.
The Northeast Division Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series makes its next stop at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J., August 10-12.
