Skuza Takes Sixth

KENT, Wash. (July 27, 2001) - Dean Skuza and the Mopar Parts Dodge R/T Nitro
Funny Car grabbed the sixth position following the first day of activity for
this weekend's Prolong Superlubricants Northwest NHRA Nationals at Seattle
International Raceway.

The Brecksville, Ohio, resident clicked off a 4.946-second elapsed time at
302.28 mph, during the cooler second session.

"We were really just looking to get into the show," Skuza said. "We're
pretty pleased with that. We want to stay in the top half and gain lane
choice. The car ran quite well in the left lane and we made two passes and
retained some great data. We're not sure what the weather is going to do
tomorrow, so we're happy that we got this one tonight."

Osborne & Alderman in Top Half

The Mopar Parts duo of Mark Osborne and Darrell Alderman wielded their new
Pro Stock Dodge Neon R/T entries to the seventh and eighth qualifying
positions, respectively.

Osborne ran a 6.868-second lap at 201.67 mph during the second qualifier,
inaugurating the new Neon R/T into sea-level competition following last
weekend's debut in the upper altitudes of Bandimere Speedway in Morrison,
Colo.

"I thought we had a little more in it," said Osborne, who broke the track's
speed record with a 201.82 mph run in the first session. "I knew we left a
little on the table during our first run. We're making a lot of horsepower,
but the run wasn't quite what we wanted. Overall, I'm pretty excited about
the new cars."

Teammate Alderman, a three-time Winston Pro Stock World Champion, drove to
the eighth slot with an elapsed time of 6.869-seconds at 201.46 mph.

"I thought I could have run a little better on that second hit," said
Alderman, who was in the second-qualified position heading into the second
session. "The car shook a little bit, but felt pretty comfortable going on
through there. The track is pretty good and I think the lanes are pretty
equal, so I think Sunday will be a good race day."

Morgan Misses

Frustration continues to be etched on the face of Dodge Motorsports Pro
Stock Neon R/T driver Larry Morgan. With a great deal of testing under his
belt following last weekend's Mopar Parts Mile-High Nationals just outside
Denver, Morgan was optimistic about today.

Morgan barely missed the top 16 with a 6.950-second run at 198.50 mph,
placing the Newark, Ohio resident in the 17th position.

"I am utterly disappointed with our qualifying effort," said a frustrated
Morgan. "We made some testing runs and we thought we had a handle on it.
It's very frustrating right now."
