IT'S THRILLS IN THE HILLS AT NUMIDIA RACEWAY

        NUMIDIA, Pa.-   In first rounds of qualifying at Numidia Raceway,
Dave Northrop in Competition Eliminator and James Zane in Super Stock are
leading their respective fields.
        Competition Eliminator racer Dave Northrop, of Perkasie, Pa., made
a 9.262 second pass in his '87 Camaro, -0.668 under index, to put him ahead
of his competitors.  While, Franklin Square, N.Y., resident Frank Aragona
remained close behind in the second position with an elapsed time of 8.636
seconds, -0.664 under index.
        The top qualifier in the Super Stock category was Bordentown, N.J.,
resident James Zane.  Zane drove his '99 S-10 to the head of the field with
a run of 10.575 seconds, -1.175 under his index.
        Leading the way in the Stock field is Cecil Frazier of Canton,
Mass.  Frazier and his '90 Camaro took the quarter mile with an elapsed
time of 11.961 seconds at -1.189 under index.
        Qualifying continues Saturday at 9:00 a.m.  Gates at Numidia
Raceway open at 8:00 a.m.  Federal-Mogul Dragster and Funny Car run at 3:00
