Start Order & Late Breaking News:
SCCA ProRally Championship - Maine Forest

A new USA record of 120 cars are entered in the Maine Forest SCCA ProRally,
round #6 in the Championship. All three Championship manufacturers (Hyundai,
Subaru and Mitsubishi) are represented, featuring the hugely successful
Hyundai Tiburons and Elantras, over a dozen Mitsubishi Lancers, and the debut
of several new Subaru Imprezas, in FIA Group N and several SCCA specification
categories. The two-day event will be held on privately owned lumber company
roads in the area west of Rumford. The Rally starts Friday afternoon, 27
July at 3:00 PM EST in downtown Rumford.

Selected late entries, news (driver/co-driver):
· Noel Lawler, the 1999 series overall champion reunites this weekend with
long-time co-driver, (and 1999 series co-driver champion) Charles Bradley,
who took some mid-season time off to concentrate on his new business venture
in Atlanta, GA. With that successfully underway, Bradley will be back in the
Hyundai co-drivers seat for the balance of the season.
· Maine Forest marks the first time this season that the Canadian Subaru
works team will cross the border, and contest for the overall win against
their American counterparts. Featuring a two-car squad similar to the
Prodrive prepped US team, the Canadians will be entered in the Open class
(McGeer/Williams) and the Production GT class (Richard/McCurdy) Last year,
this duo experienced ultimate thrills and despair, as Richard was sidelined
at the start with transmission woes, and McGeer drove to a 2nd place finish,
only to lose it over a vehicle servicing infraction.
· Also experiencing a reunion are Garen Shrader and Michael Fennell, who
drove together for the first time at this event last year, but have had a
challenging 2001 season. Shrader, out since the March Cherokee Trail event,
will be in his SCCA Open Class Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV.
· Seamus Burke and Frank Cunningham have a very favorable 2nd car on the
road starting position, and are clearly in contention for a top overall
finish. The only team to stand on the podium at every event of the season,
the duo have steadily been building on their speed all year, and the
reliability of their TAD Motorsports prepared Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI has
been top notch. With the favorable starting position, and Mark Lovell's
completely unproven new Subaru WRX making its debut, this could be Burke's
biggest weekend of the year.
· The start order, due to the huge size of the field, has been condensed
down to the top 50 teams for this release. The complete listing, with up to
the minute updates, is available at the Maine Forest website address shown
below.
