Law Anxious to Return to Canada

Law Anxious to Return to Canada

PHOENIX, Arizona (July 24, 2001) - Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series GT Class points leader, Darren Law is excited to go back to Canada next week. At Le Grand Prix de Trios-Rivières last year, Law and then teammate, Mike Fitzgerald, turned the fastest qualifying lap in the GT class, but ended up taking home second place.

Although a second-place finish is very impressive in the largest class in Grand-Am, Law and the G&W Motorsports team is looking to gain one more spot this time around. He also looks forward to doing it in front of the enormous crowd that the event attracts.

"I am really looking forward to returning to this great race," Law said. "The fans in Canada are amazing. They are avid sports car fans in that part of the world. They really show their support when we come to town."

Another reason Law is looking forward to the next event is because of the improved condition of his #81 Motorola/Commscope/Valley Group/G&W Motorpsorts Porsche GT3-RS.

"We've had a few handling problems with the car that has set us back for the past few races," Law stated. "After some extensive testing, we found, and corrected, most of the problems."

Law said he feels the G&W team has a great shot at taking home its second victory of the season.

"We know we have a great team, and now that our car is almost at 100% again, we are definitely in contention."

The GT and AGT classes will compete separately from the prototype and GTS cars in the only street race of the Grand-Am season. The 82-lap sprint race will take Law and the rest of the GT field on a wild ride through the streets of Trois-Rivières, Quebec. Law will attempt to move up a spot from last year's efforts on the 1.506-mile, 10-turn temporary street course on Saturday, August 2, beginning at 3:15 p.m.
