HEY DETROIT DONT MISS THIS GREAT EVENT!Historic Detroit Ford Model T Plant Opens for Tours and Lectures July 28

DETROIT, July 24 -- The birthplace of the Model T, voted the most significant car of the 20 century, the Ford Piquette Avenue assembly plant in Detroit, will be open to the public from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on July 28, in celebration of the Tricentennial of Detroit.
Located at 411 Piquette Avenue at Beaubien in Detroit's famous "Auto Alley," cradle of the early automobile industry, the Ford Piquette plant will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event will include tours of the facility, displays of cars built at the plant between 1904 and 1910, presentations on the early history of the plant, demonstrations with Ford cars from the Piquette era and exhibits about the building's history. The event is cosponsored by the Model T Automobile Heritage Complex, Inc. (T-Plex) and the Henry Ford Heritage Association.
Recently acquired by T-Plex, the historic Piquette plant is undergoing renovation to become an automotive history interpretive center. Historians believe the building is one of the most significant buildings in the history of the automobile industry and the history of technology. World-changing events occurred at the Piquette plant, including the design and first production of the Model T, the concept of applying a moving assembly line to automobile manufacturing, establishing American dominance in the automobile industry by setting the world's record in car production, and becoming America's largest car producer. In addition, the plant was the first building built and owned by the Ford Motor Company, now one of the world's largest corporations.
