MatrixOne Provides Engineering and Project Management for XCELLSiS

    CHELMSFORD, Mass.--July 24, 2001--

MatrixOne's Business Collaboration Platform eMatrix To Manage and Distribute Project and Product Information Between XCELLSiS Operations
    In Germany, USA and Canada

MatrixOne, Inc. , the first in Intelligent Collaborative Commerce(TM), today announced that XCELLSiS, one of the leading developers and manufacturers of fuel cell engines, has selected MatrixOne's business collaboration framework eMatrix(TM) to provide a platform for collaborative engineering for XCELLSiS' evolving technology of fuel cell engines. eMatrix will be used to streamline product development and time to market by managing and distributing project and product content information between XCELLSiS' operations in Germany, the United States and Canada. XCELLSiS, headquartered near Stuttgart, Germany, is the result of a partnership between DaimlerChrysler, Ford Motor Company, and Ballard Power System.
The implementation of the project, which began in October 2000, has been entrusted to MatrixOne(R) partner CSC Ploenzke and is expected to be completed at the end of 2001. The solution, which in its final stage will serve 300 engineers, will be comprised of integrations to the Pro/Engineer(R) and Pro/Intralink(R) CAD environments as well as to XCELLSiS' SAP ERP system. Information and data exchange between locations in Germany, the United States and Canada will be through MatrixOne's replication and distribution technology.
XCELLSiS develops and manufactures hydrogen- and methanol-fueled fuel cell engines for the automotive and transportation industry. The technology is expected to reach market maturity by the year 2004.
