                 ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS WRAP UP AT MID-OHIO;
                          DUANE WINS AMA HORIZON AWARD

     PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The 2001 AMA Road Racing Grand Championships by

Fastraxx featured some of the most competitive racing in the event's history,

the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) announced today.

     The annual event was held July 16 and 17, at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

in Lexington, Ohio. Amateur road-racing competitors vied for top honors in 31

classes.

     The highlight of the week, both for riders and fans, was the presentation

of the AMA Road Racing Horizon Award. After winning five races -- including

three of the premier classes -- Doug Duane of Stow, Ohio, took home this year's

award.

     "I know that some top riders have won this award in the past,'' Duane said.

"I'm going out to give it my best shot in the pro ranks.''

     The AMA Horizon Award is presented each year to an outstanding young rider

who's most likely to succeed at the sport's next level. Recent winners include

Jason DiSalvo and Ben Spies.
