Cooperative Development Effort Aims to Tackle $21B Insurance Rip-Off
FREEPORT, Texas--July 23, 2001--Elite Logistics Inc. (OTCBB:ELOG), a leader in the fast-growing telematics industry, announced today that it is teaming with Independent Witness Inc. (IWI), a leading innovator in event data recording technology, to develop "black box" technology for measuring and communicating data related to vehicle impacts, shipment damage and seismic monitoring. The integrated system will benefit companies by decreasing operational and insurance costs and improving safety processes.Elite and IWI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore the integration of Elite's PageTrack(R) GPS based intelligent vehicle systems with IWI's The Witness "black box" and ASIP (Accident Severity & Injury Probability) database, which records and objectively analyzes auto collision information.
"Our company was founded to provide a solution to the nearly $21 billion that businesses and individuals lose a year due to fraudulent injury claims in low impact collisions," stated Luther Perkins, president/CEO of Independent Witness Inc. "The Witness and our ASIP database provide that solution, however, we are always looking at ways of leveraging our role as an information provider. By linking our products with Elite's PageTrack(R) system, we will not only be able to provide our fleet clients with near real-time collision notification along with information such as severity with potential correlation to probability of injury, but we will also be able to notify authorities in order for the appropriate help to be dispatched. Furthermore, Elite's Internet-enabled remote monitoring and control will bring operations cost savings to our fleet clients."
