Eaton Corporation Appoints Craig A. Black Vice President & Chief Technology Officer

    CLEVELAND--July 23, 2001--Eaton Corporation today announced that Craig A. Black has been appointed vice president & chief technology officer, effective July 30, 2001. Black will lead the company's Innovation Center and be responsible for driving research and development synergies across Eaton's businesses. He succeeds Stanley V. Jaskolski, who retired from the company March 31, 2001. Black will report to Randy W. Carson, senior vice president and group executive and will be located at Eaton's Innovation Center in Southfield, Michigan.

    Black joins Eaton from Fives-Lilles, where he was president and chief executive officer of Ingersoll Cinetic Automation Corporation since 1999. From 1997 to 1999, he was with the Ingersoll-Rand Company as vice president and general manager of the Automation Division of the company's Production Equipment Group. Prior to that, Black spent 20 years at Allen-Bradley Company/Rockwell International Corporation, where he most recently managed marketing, engineering and product development for the Vision and Bar Code Business of Rockwell Automation, and earlier led these functions for the Communications Division of the Automation Group. Earlier in his Allen-Bradley/Rockwell career, he held engineering management positions in the Industrial Computers and Communications Division, and the Data Highway Engineering and Programmable Controller Businesses.
    Black holds a master of science in electrical engineering and a bachelor's in electrical engineering from The Cleveland State University.
