Enhanced GPS Device Offers Improved Theft Detection and Tracking for Stolen Vehicles
SALT LAKE CITY, July 20 Every year, the automobile insurance industry publishes new lists of the most-stolen motor vehicles. While newer technologies are available to thwart such thefts, none of them offers the level of sophistication of the Global Positioning System (GPS) based tracking and reporting apparatus patented by Worldwide Notification Systems, Inc. (WNS). The WNS system is so accurate that the vehicle's location is reported within three meters. The device's uniqueness lies in the flexibility it gives the central station to monitor and control certain aspects of the situation: -- Each vehicle with the device has a unique identifier signal. -- Tracking and reporting begins automatically after a predetermined time-which can be as little as 30 seconds-if the device is not deactivated through the use of a special code. -- Locations are reported to a central station, which then calls in the local law enforcement authorities charged with recovering the vehicle. -- The tracker can set the device to transmit a signal at regular intervals or on command. -- The tracker also can remotely activate attention-getting equipment, such as the vehicle's horn and lights. The improved technology that enables these features is not available in existing alternatives. This device provides a highly efficient and cost-effective method of monitoring many devices simultaneously, enhancing the likelihood of recovery and minimizing the chances of damage. While this device is primarily intended to track stolen automobiles, the technology is easily adaptable to the tracking of other types of vehicles. According to J. Michael Wallace, WNS Chairman and CEO, "WNS is one of the original pioneers in GPS technology. We recognized the technology's enormous potential long before the term 'GPS' became a household word. Today, the world market is demanding the vast possibilities and enhancements that only GPS can provide. Therefore, WNS has partnered with a world leader in intellectual property rights, Sughrue, Mion, Zinn, Macpeak & Seas, PLLC, to sell the patented and patent pending technology underlying this unique motor vehicle tracking system through a competitive bidding process."
