Shanghai Volkswagen Selects Tecnomatix eMPower as One of Its Standard Manufacturing Process Management Solutions
NASHUA, N.H.--July 18, 2001--Shanghai Volkswagen Expands Use of eMPower to Optimize Machining Lines
Tecnomatix Technologies, Ltd. , the leading provider of Manufacturing Process Management Software solutions, announced today that its eMPower(TM) Machining solution was selected by Shanghai Volkswagen to help the company optimize machining-line processes throughout its engine factory locations on Mainland China. The order represents the first implementation of eMPower Machining on Mainland China.
eMPower Machining will help Shanghai Volkswagen to design, balance and optimize machining lines for high-volume, high-quality automotive parts, such as cylinder heads, engine blocks and transmission cases. The integrated set of software applications enables the company to capture corporate knowledge and resources and deliver optimal production processes. In addition, eMPower Machining will enable Shanghai Volkswagen to make initial costing estimates in the early phases of engine development.
"eMPower has been helping us to optimize material flow and manual assembly operations since 1999. Following these benefits, we are expanding our use of eMPower to help us improve the planning of our machining lines, in shorter time and with reduced costs," said Mr. Shi Qing Zong, Manager of CAD/CAM Systems Planning Department of Shanghai Volkswagen. "With eMPower Machining we can reduce the investment risks associated with building new machining lines."
"We are pleased that Shanghai Volkswagen has joined the community of automotive and line builders who have adopted the eMPower Machining solution," said Harel Beit-On, President and Chief Executive Officer, Tecnomatix Technologies, Ltd. "As the first eMPower Machining user on Mainland China, Shanghai Volkswagen represents a major stepping stone to our growth in this critical region."
Tecnomatix eMPower Machining is being distributed and supported at Shanghai Volkswagen through IMAG, the distributor of Tecnomatix products in Mainland China. The order builds upon a previous Tecnomatix solution implemented by Shanghai Volkswagen.
