XM Monthly Fee Can Now be Included when Leasing and Financing GM Vehicles WASHINGTON, July 18 Boosting access and convenience of its service, XM Satellite Radio announces that the option of including the monthly XM subscription as part of the lease or finance of a new GM vehicle will be available when customers finance through their dealers and GMAC. "We are excited to see the strong support General Motors is providing to ensure XM Radio is implemented properly," said Steve Cook, XM's Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Rolling the monthly service fee into the monthly car payment is a win-win situation. Consumers will appreciate the ease and convenience while XM and GM benefit by higher subscriber penetration." General Motors, a strategic investor in XM, owns a 12 percent share of the company, directly and through its subsidiary DIRECTV. XM has a long-term distribution agreement with General Motors to integrate XM radios into its vehicles commencing in 2001. Now, customers with GMAC financing can choose not to see a separate bill for XM's service. Instead, the XM subscription may be included in their car payments. XM successfully launched its second satellite on May 8, completing its constellation. XM will transform radio, an industry that has seen little technological change since FM, almost 40 years ago.
