Green Tokai Company Wins New Product Award
Green Tokai Company Wins New Product Award From The National Society of Professional Engineers
ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 17 Green Tokai Company Ltd., based in Brookville, OH, will receive the National Society of Professional Engineers' (NSPE) 2001 New Product Award in the large size company category for its innovative work to develop Paint film technology. While paint film itself has been commercially available for a number of years, it was not fully utilized as a replacement for conventional painting methods by the automotive industry. The Technical Center of Green Tokai created Paint film technology as a process that would achieve the goal of wrapped paint film and insure that the finished product would be superior to a conventionally painted part, not only in appearance but also in its ability to perform well in harsh environments. Paint film technology results in a large reduction in environmental contamination. Since thermoplastic materials are used, the product is easy to recycle and there are no solvents that released into the environment during the manufacturing of the product. "Engineers make a unique contribution to the research and development process that creates new and improved products people use everyday," said Richard Buchanan, P.E., chair of NSPE's Professional Engineers in Industry (PEI) Practice Division, which selects the winners. "The resulting innovations, like Green Tokai Company's Paint film technology, stimulate the growth of our economy and therefore improve the well-being of the public." NSPE's New Product Award program recognizes the benefits that come from the research and engineering of new products, such as added employment, economic development, strengthening of the nation's competitive position internationally, and contribution to the public's standard of living. Green Tokai Company Ltd. will be presented with this award during NSPE's 2001 Annual Convention and Exposition, which will be held July 26 - 30 2001 in Detroit, MI.
