DTN Weather Services Takes Weather-On-The-Go with New PDA Product

DTN Weather Services Takes Weather-On-The-Go with New PDA Product

MINNEAPOLIS, July 17 DTN Weather Services is bringing the
world of weather to Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). The largest supplier
of business-to-business weather products and services recently released
StormGuard, a PDA-based weather system. Now people in weather-sensitive
industries won't need to be tied to their desks to receive current conditions,
forecasts, and the latest color radar images.
StormGuard goes anywhere a cell phone does, making it ideal for those in
construction, recreation, transportation, and other outdoors-oriented
industries. It works in conjunction with a PDA connected by a cable to a cell
phone. Dialing in to an Internet service provider, via the cell phone, allows
the user to automatically download weather information to his or her PDA. The
process is simple, providing a quick, user-friendly link to vital information
from just about any location.
"This product was designed for people on the go who are directly impacted
by changing weather conditions," said Reed Moormeier, President of DTN Weather
Services. "Businesses -- particularly those that involve multiple work sites,
outdoor locations, and travel -- will benefit from StormGuard. Reliable
weather information can help protect people, keep projects and events on
schedule, and cut costs through informed decision making."
DTN Weather Services is the world's leading supplier of weather solutions,
providing data, forecast services, accurate real-time weather, and display
systems to more than 160,000 business clients. DTN Weather Services is a
subsidiary of Data Transmission Network, a portfolio company of VS&A
Communications Partners III, LP, the private equity affiliate of Veronis
Suhler.
