Reporting to Chip McClure, president and chief operating officer, Bertsch
is responsible for integrating global manufacturing processes and ensuring
that best practices are shared by Federal-Mogul's nearly 150 manufacturing
facilities worldwide. He is also responsible for quality; environment, health
and safety initiatives; and constraint management efforts aimed at making the
company's plants more efficient and cost-effective. His appointment supports
a global product management structure announced in May by Chief Executive
Officer Frank Macher.
"Bob's extensive manufacturing and engineering background, combined with
his global operations experience, make him an ideal leader for our
manufacturing function around the world," McClure said.
Prior to joining Federal-Mogul, Bertsch was with Ford Motor Company and
Visteon for 33 years, most recently as global director, organizational
services, for Visteon. He began his career at Ford in 1968 as a manufacturing
process engineer. His career has included managerial positions of increasing
responsibility, including general manager, plastics, in China. He played a
leadership role in operational and organizational support as Visteon developed
into a company independent from Ford.
Bertsch has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State
University.
Headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, Federal-Mogul is an automotive
parts manufacturer providing innovative solutions and systems to global
