Eight high school teams from across the United States and Mexico will compete in a cross-country solar race. The eight-day, 1,400-mile challenge is designed to motivate students in the sciences, provide hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology and emphasize the value of alternative energy sources. Students and judges will be using Dell Inspiron notebooks to access a wireless network to fix their location, gauge solar car battery usage, monitor weather patterns, track their competitors and record other important race data that factors into their race strategies.
